I think opinion pieces are excellent on a wiki, so long as the author is expressing a point of view that he can explain well and not just "d00dz u r all l0serzzz my way is best!" For instance, a piece of why you wouldn't want OOP would annoy me since I disagree, but if it was well-written and explained in good detail why the author disliked OOP, it wouldn't hurt to have it up.

The wiki should certainly contain opinions, provided they are labeled as such.
I think that over time we will see a lot of recurring topics on the forums, and those topics would be ideal to move to the wiki. For example, we already have a number of threads discussing the pros and cons of various database systems. Why not have a wiki page outlining the features of each system? Then when someone comes in and asks whether MSSQL>MySQL you can just link to the wiki article in your reply. |
